Attorney Robert C. Hamilton


Robert Hamilton (Bob) has been practicing criminal defense in West Michigan for over 25 years. He handles only criminal cases. In some circles he is known as “The Handler.” Bob has represented over 2000 adults and juveniles faced with misdemeanor and felony charges ranging from trespass to home invasion, from simple assault to 1st degree murder and from shoplifting to multi-million dollar securities fraud. Bob has represented clients on 20-year-old “cold cases” and also advises clients during police investigations before charges are filed. He is a veteran of over 100 jury trials. He is well-known and well-respected by police, prosecutors and judges and is widely regarded as one of the most effective criminal defense attorneys in the Ottawa County area.

Bob is a member of Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan (CDAM) and a subscriber to the services of the State Appellate Defender Office (SADO) where he worked as a research assistant while attending the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing. He is past president of the Ottawa County Bar Association and served as president of Hann Persinger PC from 2003 to 2013. He has served on the board of directors of the West Michigan Environmental Action Council (WMEAC) and was an original founder of the Macatawa Greenway Partnership where he also served on the board of directors and as vice president.
